Video Review: Just Mobile Gum Max External Battery
Just Mobile just gets Apple accessories. There are among a small group of companies who make accessory items for Apple devices that look as though Apple could have made the items themselves. The Gum Max packs a gigantic 10,400 mAh of recharging power and it works with virtually any device that can be charged via a USB cable, including the iPad. The all aluminum body of the Gum Max looks like it belongs next to an iMac or Mac Book Pro and comes complete with a 30-pin cable and a handy carrying pouch.
Head on in after the break to watch my full review of the Gum Max. When you’re done watching click here to jump to the Just Mobile web site where you can learn more about it.

Video Review: Seidio Surface and Convert Plus for iPhone 4/4s
The new trend in extended battery cases for the iPhone is ones which feature swappable batteries. This sort of case allows the user to bring along any number of extra batteries which can be added or removed from the case as needed. Seidio’s newest offering in this vein comes in two models. The slimmer Surface Plus or the beefier and more protective Convert Plus. Both cases allow the user to swap amongst a 1700 mAh battery at will (the case comes with one battery and additional batteries can be purchased separately.) The Surface case features a soft-touch texture and is available in a choice of four different colors. When combined with the Convert Plus add-on you’re left with not only a power packing case but one that’s ultra protective as well. Both cases come with optional holsters so you’re free to rock the case on your belt if that’s how you roll.

Seidio Announces Availability of the Surface Plus and Convert Plus iPhone Battery Cases
We’ve reviewed a lot of battery cases at Run Around Tech. In the beginning, most of which were protective cases that you put on top of your iPhone 4/4s. However that all changed with the release of hot swappable battery style cases for the iPhone. The newest of which was released by Seidio, just today. The Surface Plus is a rechargeable battery style case which offers a slot that can house a 1700 mAh battery. Or go with with the Convert Plus and the result is what Seidio calls the industry’s first rugged style battery case and holster combination.
The Surface Plus comes in four different color variations and is available for $69.95. Or choose the Convert Plus for $99.95.
We’re lucky enough to have both cases on the way to us and will be sure to post a full review once they arrive.
In the meantime you can learn more about both cases here.
Video Review: New Trent IMP99D 9900 mAh External Battery
There are plenty of options when it comes to external batteries. If you’re a mobile device power user who needs to be able to recharge your device while on the go, away from an actual wall outlet, a good external battery is your answer. The key is finding one that is the proper balance of size vs. power based in what you need to recharge. Some batteries are specific to the iPhone. Others pack little power. The New Trent IMP99D is a beast of an external battery offering up 9900 mAh of recharging power. That’s enough to recharge 5 iPhones! It has the option to charge two USB powered devices at the same time and even works with the heavier power requirements of the iPad.

Video Review: Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation
Most iPhone users are familiar with Mophie’s JuicePack line of extended battery cases, the Juice Pack and the Juice Pack Plus. These products both work great for power users who need a little more juice throughout the day by combining a protective case along with an extra battery for recharging your phone. But what if you want to use your own case with your phone or even use no case at all? Or what if you’re an iPad user who’s finding your iPad’s battery dying mid-day? If that’s you than an external battery pack style solution is what you want. Mophie has a wide range of those as well. Today we’ll look at the Powerstation, which features 4,000 mAh of recharging power and will work with almost any USB device, including the iPad. The Product Red version that I reviewed features a soft touch finish and LED indicators to let you know just how much power you have remaining.

Video Review: Moshi Rewind Dual iOS Device Charger
If you own an iPad and and iPhone the Moshi Rewind is simply a must buy. Why? If you’ve ever traveled with both devices you know you have to drag along both power cords. This can especially be troublesome in hotel rooms where outlets are usually at a premium. You may even have this sort of problem at home or simply want to reduce the number of power cords plugged in around your house. The Rewind allows you to charge two iOS devices (iPhone and iPad, iPad and iPod, iPhone and iPod etc.) at the same time from one outlet. It comes along with one 30-pin charge and sync cable and you provide the second allowing you to recharge two devices from only one power source.
Since it’s priced exactly the same as the original Apple iPod charger the Rewind is a much better buy. Click on through to see my video review of the Rewind and find out why. Then head to this page on the company’s web site to learn more about it.
Video Review: BoostCase Hybrid External Battery Case for iPhone 4/4s
For the iPhone power user some sort of external battery is a must have accessory. Used to be the only choice was a large, bulky case that you placed on your phone and turned on when the battery in your phone died. That worked well, except for the bulk, but meant you were dealing with a large case when you didn’t need to. At CES this year we noticed a trend with this sort of case for the iPhone. Many of the accessory manufacturers have started to develop external battery cases which use removable batteries. This means you’ll only have to deal with a larger, bulkier case when you actually need the extra power. Once such case which caught our eye was the BoostCase Hybrid. I spotted it the very first night, as a matter of fact it was the first product I saw at CES 2012, period. When I got home I ordered one up to check out. The BoostCase is different from the other removable battery cases we saw in that it’s almost two cases in one combing the elements of a traditional snap on back cover along with an external battery case. The hybrid is available in a variety of colors and finishes too.

CES 2012: Oregon Scientific Wireless iPhone Charging Station
We’ve seen a few “wireless” chargers for the iPhone over the years. Usually they require a thick, bulky case and do nothing more than charge the phone. The Oregon Scientific QW201_217 not only charges your phone without having to plug in but it doe so via an all-in-one alarm clock that gives you the date and time, as well as the indoor and outdoor temperatures. Yes it’s true the base station has to be plugged in but nothing has to be plugged into the phone itself. The case like sleeve keeps the iPhone slim and it works with all models of the iPhone 4 and 4s.
The QW201_217 is available via the Oregon Scientific web site for $159.99.

CES 2012: BoostCase at Unveiled
CES Unveiled, the official press event for the 2012 show, kicked off tonight. One of the cooler products I came across was the BoostCase. Extended battery case for the iPhone aren’t exactly new. However, they usually end up creating unwanted bulk. The BoostCase is different, allowing you to hot swap the battery portion of the case when you need the power keeping your phone slim when you don’t. Check out the video above for a brief look at the BoostCase, then head to the company’s web site here to learn more.
