The UK Gets a Release Date for the Kindle Touch
Living in the UK we are often stuck watching from a distance when new products are released in the U.S. Although we do have the Kindle Keyboard available here we haven’t seen the Touch or even a release date for the Fire yet. Well we rejoiced yesterday when Amazon finally announced it’s plans for releasing the Kindle Touch here. Yes you can now preorder in the UK Amazon store.
The Kindle Touch retailing at £109 and is going to be shipping starting 27th April 2012.
Now all we have to do is wait for the release date for the Kindle Fire, which I think could do pretty well here given the iPad isn’t as dominant as other countries. It might have more of a run for it’s money.

Why I Sold My Kindle Fire
Earlier this year Amazon announced the Kindle Fire, their first foray into the (crowded) tablet world. In my opinion, the attention-grabbing feature of both the announcement and the Fire itself was the price tag of $199. It’s a 7″ device with a custom UI based on Android 2.3 which packs a dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, and 8GB onboard storage. The Fire seems to offer the specs to back it up right? So why didn’t I like it?

Amazon Refreshes Their Famous Kindle
Today, Amazon has refreshed its complete lineup of Kindles. Priced at $79, $99, and $149 respectively, the new models will surely have features fit to just about everyone. First up is the Kindle. The Kindle is a non-touch device that will be supported by ads to subsidize the $79 price tag, along with having physical buttons. One thing Amazon is emphasizing that these ads will look more like artwork, rather than ads. Next up is the Kindle Touch. At $99, the Kindle Touch is a touchscreen Kindle that is WiFi-only and has access to the millions of books on Amazon’s Kindle Store. Lastly, the Kindle Touch 3G is the exact same as the Kindle Touch, with the inclusion of free worldwide 3G. This ensures that you can get your reading fix no matter where you are in the world.
The Amazon keynote is happening right now, and This is my next has a live blog covering the event.

Review: Kindle 3 Snugg Case in Blue Denim

There are two key elements I look for in a case for my Amazon Kindle 3. Protection and comfort. Any good case should do a good job of keeping the device safe and sound in the event of a fall, bump or other form of sudden impact. However, perhaps even more importantly a case needs to be comfortable. Unlike the iPad 2, where you probably place it down onto a surface to use, when I read on the Kindle I’m almost always holding it as you would a traditional book. Ever try holding something uncomfortable for an hour or more? It’s not fun. That’s why a good Kindle case should be easy to hold and feel good in your hands while doing so.
Does the Snugg Case in Blue Denim fit the bill?

Review: KleverCase False Book Case for the Kindle 3
Somewhere, hidden amongst these books is my Amazon Kindle 3. See it? Okay, it’t not really hidden since the KleverCase says “my Kindle” right along the spine, but it still looks good nonetheless. If you miss the old school look and feel of a classic hard cover book because you’ve switched over to the Kindle 3 the KleverCase False Book Case might be for you. The handmade case brings back nostalgic memories of reading the classics while protecting your Kindle 3 from life’s challenges.

Amazon Announces Text Book Kindle Rental Program
You’re a struggling college student. The last thing you want to deal with is shelling out hundreds of dollars on books you’ll probably never use again – let alone face the task of having to lug them all around campus. Got an Amazon Kindle? Then here’s some good news. Amazon has announced a new text book rental program for their popular Kindle e-reader. Many books are 80% off the cost of their printed version. You choose the time you need the book for and pay for only that amount – starting at a minimum of 30 days. You can extend your rental for as little as one day or convert to purchase if you so choose. Once you’ve rented a text book it’ll be available for you to read anywhere, from your PC, Mac, Kindle, or your mobile device. And you can even access your notes after your rental has expired.

What I’m Bringing On Summer Vacation
It’s summer vacation time. By the time you read this I’ll be traveling down the road with my family headed towards the Outer Banks. Whenever I go on a trip like this it’s always a struggle to decide exactly what “gear” to bring and when I do decide I often get asked what I ended up bringing. Unlike some of the bloggers I know, who clearly have no lives, I don’t plan to actually work too often while I’m vacation – after all isn’t that what being on vacation means? However, I’m a realist and I realize I’ll have to be online sometimes to manage the site.
So read on to take a look inside my gear bag.

Check out our review of this stylish leather book style case for the Kindle 3 that features a built in light. It may not solve world peace or fix the national debt but the Kindle Lighted Leather Cover might save your marriage. At the very least it’ll make for a happier spouse – if you have one that is kept up by your late night reading. The case is sleek and sophisticated and the built in light means you’ll be able to read on your Kindle virtually anywhere.
