What’s on my Jailbroken iPhone 4s?
Since Jailbreaking my iPhone 4s I often get asked by viewers on my YouTube channel for a “What’s on your Jailbroken iPhone” video. Instead of making a video on the subject I’ve opted for a post here. So, if you’re thinking about Jailbreaking but are still wondering why it’s attractive, take a look at my list below. Perhaps one or more of the “tweaks” I’ve got running on my personal phone will sway you one way – or the other. I should point out that in this particular article I’ll be focusing on applications for the iPhone. However, I’ve also Jailbroken my iPad 2 and am enjoying many of the same utilities on it as well.

Got the New iPhone 4S Jailbreak? Here’s Some Tweaks to Get Started
Last Friday the new Absinthe jailbreak tool for Apple’s A5 devices was finally released after a long wait. I jumped on it as soon as it came out and I’ve been absolutely impressed by some of the new tweaks that are available since the last time I was using a jailbroken device. If you just went through the process of Jailbreaking you may be wondering what to download. There’s quite a lot available to check out, but what are some of my recommendations?

Why I Will Be Jailbreaking My iPhone 4S
Since I’ve been writing for Run Around Tech since last August, I haven’t tried to hide the fact that I see things in a very Apple-centric way. I won’t subscribe to the namecalling pandemic that seems to plauge just about any online publication currently on the Internet, but if you want, call me a fan boy. I digress: if you’re looking for a great read on “fanboy theory”, read Marco Arment’s post on the issue. Nonetheless, I love Apple. I love their products, their vision, and their execution of just about everything they try to sell me. I’ve been an iPhone and Mac user since 2008, and adopted the iPad soon after it’s release in 2010. It’s safe to say that out of all the money I’ve made in my short 22-year life, a startling amount has went to buying the newest Apple product. Obviously, it’s apparent that I’m an Apple fanatic that buys into everything the company shoves in my face.
However, I cannot wait for @pod2g to release latest jailbreak for iOS 5.0 A5 devices. Read on for my reasoning.
iOS Jailbreak Developer Brings iPad-esque Multitasking Gestures to iPhone
chpwn, a jailbreak developer known for his (many) great tweaks in the Cydia store, has done it once more with his introduction of Zephyr. Zephyr is a tweak that can be bought in the Cydia store on jailbroken devices that allows users to be more efficient with their device. Instead of double-tapping the home button to raise up the multitasking pane, simply swipe up from the bottom of the phone. Furthermore, users can now switch apps in an iPad-like way: simply drag your finger from one side of the phone to the other to switch to the next app in your multitasking pane. This is a simple, yet awesome tweak that many wish Apple would implement themselves. I’m a jail breaker, but exclusively for things like this.
Check out the Youtube Video to see Zephyr in action, and if you’re interested, pick it up in the Cydia store.
iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Released
Many consumers have opted to jailbreak their iDevice because of the freedom it gives you to customize it. Many see it as an oppoturnity to free themselves of Apple’s strict ecosystem, while others just enjoy the benefits it provides in the form of apps and tweaks. However, recently an untethered jailbreak hasn’t existed because of the inability to find an exploit in the iOS infrastructure. Well, hacker pod2g has finally delivered on something fans have been asking for for a while now: an untethered jailbreak for A4 devices on iOS 5.0.1.
It’s worth nothing that this only works on devices with an A4 processor (and lower) This means that current iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners will be left out this go around. However, p0sixninja, a member of the ChronicDev team aassures users that they are working around the clock to ensure a release as quick as possible for these devices. If you currently have a tethered jailbroken device, all you need to do is simply install the newly released Corona to received the untether in Cydia. However, if your A4 device isn’t currently jailbroken, it can be achieved by using the most recent release of redsn0w (0.9.10).
Do you opt to jailbreak your device, or do you feel it’s more of a novelty and not neccessary in Apple’s ecosystem? Let us know in the comments below!

Jailbreakme.com is in Unknown, Untrusted, and Unsafe Hands
MuscleNerd, who is known best for his work on “Dev-Team”, a group of iPhone hackers that strive to bring Cydia gold to our iDevices. Is reporting that the Jailbreak powerhouse tool “Jailbreakme.com” is in untrusted hands:

This means if you are a new iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch user then you need to stay as far away from Jailbreakme.com as possible.

On the Fence About Jailbreaking? Now’s the Time to Climb Off
We arrived home from summer vacation late yesterday afternoon. Know what one of the first things I did when I got home was? Jailbroke my iPhone 4. When I’d completed the process I couldn’t help but laugh at how easy it had become. If you’re on the fence about Jailbreaking because you’re worried you’ll have to go through a set of complicated steps, loading different firmwares, restoring etc. fear not. If you’ve ever gone into the App Store application on your phone and bought then installed an application – that’s just how easy it is. Seriously, with the Jailbreakme.com method of jailbreaking you can go from a locked down phone to one’s that’s jailbroken and ready to be customized in under 10 seconds.
To do the jailbreak all you do is visit the Jailbreakme.com web site using the Safari app on your iOS device. Then when you’re ready, tap the install button. That’s it.
If you ever want to unjailbreak (you need to bring your phone in to the Genius Bar, you get tired of being jailbroken, things just don’t seem right etc.) all you need to do is a restore in iTunes and everything goes back to un-jailbroken state. If you’re an iOS user who’s never been jailbroken now is the time to try it. You owe it to yourself to test out some of the brilliant apps written by developers in the jailbreak community. Not only that but Cydia, the “App Store” for jailbreaks apps has greatly improved. It’s lightning fast and full of helpful tweaks waiting for you to try. You can’t “brick” your phone, you can’t make it unusable - a restore is always waiting should you need it. Stop being scared and give it a go, you won’t regret it.
