The UK Gets a Release Date for the Kindle Touch
Living in the UK we are often stuck watching from a distance when new products are released in the U.S. Although we do have the Kindle Keyboard available here we haven’t seen the Touch or even a release date for the Fire yet. Well we rejoiced yesterday when Amazon finally announced it’s plans for releasing the Kindle Touch here. Yes you can now preorder in the UK Amazon store.
The Kindle Touch retailing at £109 and is going to be shipping starting 27th April 2012.
Now all we have to do is wait for the release date for the Kindle Fire, which I think could do pretty well here given the iPad isn’t as dominant as other countries. It might have more of a run for it’s money.
Review: Speck Cases for the Amazon Kindle Fire

Did you know Speck makes a ton of cases that aren’t for the iPhone? Did you know some aren’t even for phones at all? In addition to making some of my favorite cases for the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air Speck also makes cases for a wide variety of tablets too and not just the iPad. Today we’ll take a look at two of the company’s offering for the recently released Amazon Kindle Fire. The “WanderFolio” is not just a protective case but also includes hideaway pockets for storing your stuff while the “FitFolio” is a hybrid style form fitting case that is available in three color variations.
How did each of the cases perform in my testing? Read on to find out.

Review & Giveaway: e-Handle Gets a Hand on your e-Reader
When choosing an e-reader one of the most important factors to consider (in addition to the display, functions, content provider etc.) is the comfort level it provides during marathon reading sessions. I recently upgraded from the Kindle Keyboard to the Kindle Fire and was immediately struck by how much heavier the Fire is. After all the Fire has an backlit screen and does so much more – it only makes sense that it would weigh more. Since the Fire is small it isn’t tough to deal with while reading but I’m not small either and I imagine some people might find reading for longer periods of time with the Fire tiresome because of the added weight. A case is usually the first option when it comes to creating a more ergonomically friendly way to hold an e-reader but that sometimes brings unwanted bulk along with it.
The e-Handle is here to offer a new way to hold your e-reader in a manner that’s meant to be comfortable and safe without the extra bulk that a case sometimes adds.
How does the e-Handle work? Read on for my full review.

Review: Oberon Design Nook Color Cover
When Oberon Design reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in reviewing some of their covers I was elated. Not only was I very familiar with the company from my days as an editor at Gear Diary but perhaps more importantly, I am a customer. I’d purchased an Oberon cover as a gift to my mother for her birthday last year and she’s still using it today, often remarking to me at how much she likes it. There are plenty of plain black leather style cases for e-readers – that’s simply not what Oberon is about. The company, which is located in Santa Rosa CA, has been making made to order products since 1972. Each of their covers features an artist inspired look and once you pick one up you get a feel for something you’d find at a luxury boutique or craft fair instead of a factory like brick and motar store.
Oberon was nice enough to send along two of their ultra stylish covers and today we’ll take a look at the version for the the Barnes and Noble Nook Color.

Review: Kindle 3 Snugg Case in Blue Denim

There are two key elements I look for in a case for my Amazon Kindle 3. Protection and comfort. Any good case should do a good job of keeping the device safe and sound in the event of a fall, bump or other form of sudden impact. However, perhaps even more importantly a case needs to be comfortable. Unlike the iPad 2, where you probably place it down onto a surface to use, when I read on the Kindle I’m almost always holding it as you would a traditional book. Ever try holding something uncomfortable for an hour or more? It’s not fun. That’s why a good Kindle case should be easy to hold and feel good in your hands while doing so.
Does the Snugg Case in Blue Denim fit the bill?

Review: KleverCase False Book Case for the Kindle 3
Somewhere, hidden amongst these books is my Amazon Kindle 3. See it? Okay, it’t not really hidden since the KleverCase says “my Kindle” right along the spine, but it still looks good nonetheless. If you miss the old school look and feel of a classic hard cover book because you’ve switched over to the Kindle 3 the KleverCase False Book Case might be for you. The handmade case brings back nostalgic memories of reading the classics while protecting your Kindle 3 from life’s challenges.

Amazon Announces Text Book Kindle Rental Program
You’re a struggling college student. The last thing you want to deal with is shelling out hundreds of dollars on books you’ll probably never use again – let alone face the task of having to lug them all around campus. Got an Amazon Kindle? Then here’s some good news. Amazon has announced a new text book rental program for their popular Kindle e-reader. Many books are 80% off the cost of their printed version. You choose the time you need the book for and pay for only that amount – starting at a minimum of 30 days. You can extend your rental for as little as one day or convert to purchase if you so choose. Once you’ve rented a text book it’ll be available for you to read anywhere, from your PC, Mac, Kindle, or your mobile device. And you can even access your notes after your rental has expired.

CellHandle Lets You Give Your Phone The Finger
The CellHandle is one of those products that you just have to try to really understand the benefits. We had a chance to check it out in person at this week’s CEA Line Shows and I have to admit once I slipped it over my finger I gained a better and more ergonomic grip on my wireless phone. The CellHandle is essentially an adjustable ring, made from nylon, which secures to the back of your wireless phone (they also make one for e-readers and another for in the car) via Velcro. You decide which of your fingers works best and then simply slip it on over your finger adjusting it for the perfect fit. Your phone remains fully operational while attached to your finger and even spins 360 degrees in either direction. You can also pick up other items with the same hand without the fear of losing hold of your phone. If you don’t want to attach the CellHandle to the back of your naked phone it’ll work with most cases instead (just not silicone ones.) The CellHandle is strong too. It’s been tested to support a pulling force of up to 9 lbs so you needn’t worry about it coming off.
The CellHandle is currently available from the company’s web site for $19.95. Their e-reader version, the e-Handle is coming soon. The in-cart EZ Cell Holder sell for $9.95.
We have samples of all of these products and will have a full review of each soon.
