Consumer technology maker Scosche Industry has released the new Scosche flipCHARGE burst and flipCHARGE rogue.   The models have a flush folding USB cable used for synching.  There is a blue LED battery level indicator and each includes a carabiner clip.  The batteries work with Schoshe’s reVIVE App for more power management.

“Not being able to make calls, send texts, watch videos, surf the web, access email or listen to music because of a dead battery can be extremely frustrating,” said Kas Alves, Executive Vice President of Scosche Industries. “The flipCHARGE line addresses that problem in a smart, convenient form factor that is easy to always have with you.”

The flipCHARGE rogue uses an 1800mAh lithium polymer battery which can fully charge a dead iPhone or iPod. While the smaller flipCHARGE burst gives an emergency 30% power burst to an iPhone and can charge a dead iPod up to 70% full.  Both models recharge themselves by plugging into a computer, wall, or car charger.

The Scosche flipCHARGE burst and rouge range from $44.99 to $59.99 at Scosche.com.

Consumer technology maker Scosche Industries has released the cellControl- a safe driving system for cell phones.  This device disables unsafe cell phone applications when driving.  The gadget uses Bluetooth signaling thwarting drivers from texting, using email, making phone calls, and more.  The system engages automatically when the vehicle is in motion.

“According to the National Highway Transportation and Safety Authority 18% of fatalities in distraction-related crashes involved a cell phone,” said Kas Alves, Executive Vice President of Scosche Industries. “Those are the type of accidents that can easily be prevented and served as the inspiration behind cellCONTROL.”

cellCONTROL works by being set up online.  Then the user needs to then download the app onto their mobile device and install the trigger unit into their vehicle’s standard OBD-II interface.  But once the trigger is installed use of the app will be blocked unless the handsfree headset is detected by your mobile device.  And if the cellControll device itself is removed, deactivated, or any misuse occurs, a report is sent by text or email to a designated administrator.

cellCONTROL is works with over 1,200 cell phones and all vehicles sold in the United States.  It also has an OBD-II interface ready to use with the safe driving trigger.

The Scosche cellCONTROL cost $129.95 and is available here.

Today at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), XPAL Power debuted the world’s first phone to run off of consumer grade batteries, the Spare One. Running off of a single AA battery, the Spare One is aimed at those in danger of losing power for extended periods of time thanks to its ability to preprogram emergency numbers. The Spare One is also great for businesses and families alike, as you could program a concierge service at the hotel, or keep one in the glovebox of your car for emergencies. The best thing about the Spare One is there is no need to worry whether the phone is charged or not.

The Spare One touts a 10 hour talk time off of a single AA battery. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the phone can keep its charge for up to 15 years with that same battery. The Spare One is a dual band GSM cell phone that’s sure to please almost anyone, as it can provide the security and assurance that you simply cannot get with most cell phones today.

You can check out the Spare One at the official site: Spare One Phone

Last month Larry and I made a day trip to New York City to check out fall version of Pepcom’s Digital Experience event. This is a much smaller version of CES and includes an array of current and new technologies on display. We get to see many of the same companies that attend the Pepcom Digital Experience at CES each year. Since this occurs at the half way point to the CES show in Vegas we look forward to seeing what’s coming out for rest of the year and spend more time with companies who may be too busy to talk to during CES.

The zBoost by Wi-EX helps boost the signal of your iPhone in parts of your house where it’s really lacking. For example, as you will see in the included video, my basement has little to no signal. This product, I hope helps improve that, since I pretty much spend all my time down there. This current model I am testing retails for $299.99 here.

I will continue to try out this product  and follow up with a full review in a couple weeks but for now check out my unboxing and initial thoughts after the break.

E13ctron is a pretty recent newcomer to the iPhone case market, but made a relatively big splash with their first release for the iPhone 4, the e13ctron s4 aluminum bumper style case.  It was one of the first all aluminum bumper case designs that didn’t degrade your cellular signal to the point that the phone became essentially useless in all but the strongest of signal areas..  To try to improve on this original s4 design, e13ctron has recently released their aluminum hybrid model, the s4 Acetal Hybrid.  How does this new model stack up to both the original s4, and all of the fairly recently released hybrid style cases on the market?  Read on to find out….
