Review: Apple SuperDrive for MacBook Air and Mac Mini
When Apple first introduced the MacBook Air and then later updated the Mac Mini they showed their intentions on where the future of the optical drive lay. By choosing to remove the drive entirely they made space to add more battery as well as slimline the product. I don’t find myself missing the optical drive but on the odd time that I need to read a DVD on my Air Apple has given me an accessory that fits the bill – the SuperDrive.

EARBUDi Turns Apple Ear Buds into Running Ear Buds
Here’s a pretty nifty product I came across recently while browsing the back end of an old edition of Mac World magazine. If you’re still using the earbuds that came with your iPhone or iPod (and I don’t know why you would be – save your money up and invest in a decent pair of ear buds) you might find keeping them in your ear a problem, especially when exercising. EARBUDi takes the standard Apple ear buds and turns them into over the ear sport style ones with just one click. The rubberized ear loops snap on to the back side of the Apple ear buds magically transforming them into a pair of ear buds that won’t fall out even when you’re most active.
Each set of EARBUDi sells for $10 and they are available via Amazon.com.

WWDC 2012 Announcement
As a registered developer I received an email from Apple today announcing WWDC 2012, which will take place in San Francisco June 11th – 15th.
I’m still in the early stages of learning iOS and am not yet at the point where I can benefit from a week of development meetings but as we all know it’s normally a time to start announcing a few new things.
I can’t see much in the invite that would give anything away but my best guess would be:
- Mountain Lion – more of a preview and new features.
- iOS 6 – A preview and developer edition released.
I’m also going to make a prediction that we won’t see any new hardware at this one and Apple will be sticking to an October release for any new iPhone. This makes sense to me given it’s what happened with the iPhone 4S and I don’t think Apple wants to break that yearly cycle.
What are your predictions?

Review: Spigen SGP Skin Guard for The New iPad
Are you looking for a case alternative? Maybe you bought the Apple smart cover for your iPad 2 or The New iPad and it won’t work with a case. The Spigen SGP Skin Guard is a great alternative to using a case. I love the Apple Smart Cover, but the biggest problem is the entire back is exposed. I know Apple is a firm believer in being case-less, but somehow my $600 iPad is too valuable for me to allow the back to lay exposed on hard, rough or abrasive surfaces.
Continue on after the jump for more pictures and to learn more about the Skin Guard.
Get Your Software Update to fix Flashback Malware on Mac
It’s rare for Apple computers to get viruses so when something like the Flashback Malware bug get’s discovered it gets a lot of people talking. It’s been reported that over 600,000 Macs have been affected by this piece of malicious code. The scary thing on this one is that you don’t have to log in as admin for it to install on your machine, which is usually required to install any piece of software on a Mac. It can put itself on your system without you doing anything. It supposedly can even sit on a website and install itself.
Oracle fixed this issue a few months ago but Apple employs their own version of Java, which had to be patched separately and wasn’t done as quick as it could have been, if I’m honest. This is a issue and Apple should have reacted just behind Oracle on this one and started on a fix to the vulnerability straight away but we are where we are and it’s taken a mass infection for them to put this out.
Let’s hope this isn’t an end of innocence for Mac owners but as the market increases attacks are going to become more and more common.
Head on over to Software Update on your Mac and get your patch now. The latest software update not includes a patch for removing the Malware bug if you computer should be infected with it.
Say GoodBye to the Yellow Sticky Note? Apple Store Updates Update Message
When I went onto the Apple Store last night to purchase a HDMI cable I was greeted with the above message. Normally when Apple takes it’s online store down for maintenance or new product additions visitors were greeted with a yellow sticky note graphic alerting them that the store was down and would return soon. That yellow sticky note looks to be no more as the above image was what I was greeted with this evening. The times they are a changing I guess.
