About

Larry Greenberg – Hi I’m Larry Greenberg, Editor in Chief of Run Around Tech.

I started Run Around Tech in 2011 with the goal of making technology easy for you to understand.  I know there’s a ton of mobile gear out there and it can be hard deciding what’s good and what’s not.  I hope you find the site a valuable resource for news and reviews of the product you crave.

My roots in the online tech community go way back.  I served as the forum administrator at Howard Forums, the internet’s largest discussion forum devoted to cell phones, for 2 years.  I also moderated the forums at Treo Central and Blackberry Forums as well.  Under the user name “lgreenberg” I generated over 100,000 posts and developed a reputation as a person always eager to help.

As a Blackberry user I began doing reviews of accessories for the various RIM devices but that all changed when Apple launched the iPhone.   I quickly transitioned to what would eventually become a love affair of all things Apple.  My YouTube channel is heavily Apple accessory focused but also manages to cover many other tech genres as well.

In April of 2009 I started writing at Gear Diary and was quickly transitioned into a editor’s position where I stayed for close to 2 years.

I’m very excited for the future of Run Around Tech and hope you come along for the ride.

Feel free to contact me anytime at larry@runaroundtech.com

Hello World!

** DONE **

That was it. I was hooked. Type in a sequence of commands and they appear on-screen. It was the mid-80s, and this was the TI-99/4A, complete with external tape deck, 13″ Zenith (color!) TV monitor and a book on BASIC. I’d spend hours re-typing programs from that book and watch them magically transform the display with dancing colors and delightful sounds. An IBM 386 PC with a book on DOS followed a few years later. Then a NES console after that. And the list goes on. My love affair with technology in all shapes and sizes stretches back as long as I can remember. Much of my youth was spent in front of that 13″ Zenith (did I mention it was in color?), or at the local book store pouring over computer books and magazines, or unsuccessfully trying to find other kids with a similar interest in my small home town.

These days I spend most of my free time on my MacBook banging out code, or on my XBox 360 or Playstation 3, getting berated by tweens slaughtering me in online shooters. When I’m on the move, my iPhone is glued to my hand. I’m a diehard Apple loyalist, but I still love wandering the aisles of Best Buy, drooling over the latest mobile phones, netbooks, laptops and more. I’ve got enough technology in my house to sustain DARPA in case of nuclear attack and enough CAT-5 to reach the West Coast. Oh, and I also have an unhealthy obsession with horror/sci-fi flicks, comics and pop culture collectibles. I’m the total nerd package.

I live and breath this stuff and I hope my articles and reviews can help you make sense of the increasingly complex and constantly outdated sea of game hardware and tech gadgets found in the marketplace today.

You can find me on XBox Live (hawkins76), the Playstation Network (BigMarc) or via email at marchawkins@gmail.com

Sahil Arora – Hi I’m Sahil, Writer at Run Around Tech.

I am a student living the East Bay Area in California. Ever since I was young, I’ve always loved new technology. My first gadget was a Walkman cassette player back in 1998, and since then I’ve always loved using and trying new technologies. I’m also an avid gamer and auto enthusiast.  I started making YouTube videos in Late-October of 2009, but it wasn’t much of a regular thing, just some random gaming clips and unboxings. I always enjoyed watching tech related videos on YouTube from 6 of my favorite YouTubers (SoldierKnowsBest, Jon4Lakers, itsmemorphious, MTPFlyers, LarryGreenberg, and TekBeatTV) Then in June of 2010, I got my new iPhone 4 (Upgrade from my old 3G) and started reviewing cases. From the second I started, I absolutely loved doing it. It’s really crazy to see how many creative designs manufacturers are able to come up with.  I’m currently on YouTube under the name techdude6693. Techdude is just a random thing and 6693 is my date of birth aka June 6, 1993. Not the most creative, but it gets the job done.  Feel free to email me at scarboy6693@gmail.com.  I am glad to be a part of the team and even happier to be working with 2 of my favorite reviewers.

Roger Ogden – Hi I’m Roger, Writer at Run Around Tech

Hello humans. My name is Roger Ogden and I’m currently a senior attending Idaho State University. In May 2012, I plan on obtaining my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and then enrolling in Graduate school to obtain my PhD in Clinical Psychology.  I have another life, too. A life that’s consumed by technology. I’m enamored with new gadgets that make our lives easier and more efficient. It seems trivial to get excited over something as silly as technology, but the ways it improves our lives is something that’s becoming fundamentally driven into our everyday lives. Hopefully my words here on Run Around Tech can produce thought and interaction between both myself and you. Please, if you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them at my email.  Again, I’m very thankful for the opportunity and look forward to providing some interesting things to say on Run Around Tech.

Keyur Patel – Hi I’m Keyur, Writer at Run Around Tech

I am currently a junior at Marshall University majoring in both Finance and Computer Science. I enjoy technology from all aspects, ranging from developing software to using the latest gadgets and sharing them among my peers. My fascination with technology came at a very young age, when my parents bought me my first computer at the age of 7. Although I did much more messing up that fixing at the time, it came out to be a worth while investment. I recall myself opening up a few machines, and pulling parts out to see what they were. Sadly, not every time was I able to successfully put it back together.  In my spare time nowadays, I can sit down and code all day long. I can honestly say that that is one thing I will never get tired of. I love critically thinking, and solving problems. Outside of the technology world, I enjoy watching and playing sports.  I am very excited to be apart of the crew here at Run Around Tech. They are some pretty awesome people. Feel free to contact me at anytime time by email.

Doug Drummond – Hi, I’m Doug Drummond, Writer at Run Around Tech.

I’ve been a tech lover since my Dad and I built our first computer back in the DOS days!  Once mobile phones became affordable I was the first with the Motorola Star Tac and slowly upgrading to some Nokia’s until I landed at Nextel.  I was the guy with the flashing Nextel antenna and completely modded body.  Once the Apple iPhone was announced I was hooked and since have had every model, plus both iPad’s, a MacBook Pro and iMac desktop for the family.  I got into reviewing after I was searching for an iPhone case in 2008 and stumbled onto youtube and saw a review, I thought to myself, “I can do that!”  In 2009 I joined YouTube so I could comment and get in on giveaway’s, but it transformed into myself becoming a reviewer.  I fell into an awesome group of tech reviewers and been here ever since.   I’m pleased to be writing for Run Around Tech and look forward to bringing you all some exciting articles while I explore my writing capabilities.  Don’t hesitate to contact me at mrdoubled50@gmail.com.

Michael Panetta - Hi, I’m Michael Panetta, Contributor at Run Around Tech.

I started tooling around with Technology way back when my parents bought us Pong for Christmas in the 70’s. What is Pong you ask? Google it.. It’s quite possibly the first video game ever! Anyway from that point on I was hooked. Anyway fast forward to a time most people who read this actually know what I’m talking about. I joined YouTube in 2006 to check out funny videos, and used the login in name MTPFlyers. So when I found Itsmemorphious (Carlos)  & Jon4Lkaers (Jon Rettinger) the idea of reviewing tech was right up my aisle. In late 2008 I finally got the nerve to shoot my first video and I was hooked on tech again. So the name MTPFlyers is not a clever handle I came up with; it’s my full name Michael Thomas Panetta and of course since I was born a Flyers fan the rest was simple.  I am excited to join Run Around Tech and hope you all join us.
