Phlo is a new search application for iOS and v2 for Mac, which launched today. Phlo is one search box that searches everywhere. Phlo says their goal is to be the fastest interface for search, letting you type just once and see results from whatever services and sites you want.
So, if you search for “cheap shoes,” and your first page of Google results doesn’t look good, you can just jump to Amazon or eBay results without having to type again. It comes preloaded with over 30 search engines and sites — including info sites like Wikipedia and CNN, not just search engines — and you can easily add more. The iOS and Mac apps sync your search history and saved search sites.
Phlo believes, especially in the mobile world, it often makes sense to separate interfaces from services. When you need to find an answer, you shouldn’t be slowed down by the question of where to look for it. So if you need to search anywhere, Phlo is the one place to start.
Just like what the company’s previous iPhone app, Localscope, does for real-world places, Phlo does for web search results. So you type “pizza” once into Localscope, and you can just browse with your thumb between results from Yelp, Foursquare, Google Maps, Instagram, etc. and see nearby results from all those services. Localscope can be your one app for finding places in the world, and Phlo can be your one app for finding things online.
Phlo for iOS is available for US $2.99 on the App Store. Phlo for Mac is available for US $3.99 on the Mac App Store.
