Review & Giveaway: Marware Sportshell Convertible iPhone 5 Case

The Marware SportShell Convertible Case for the iPhone 5 is like the Swiss Army Knife of iPhone cases.  This baby packs four functions into one package.  These include a slim protective case, armband, holster and stand.  While you could go out and purchase a different case for each of these functions that would be boarder line ludicrous, adding up to well over $100.  The SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case gives you all of those features for a price that’s under $50.

Read on through to check out my full review of the Marware SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case.  Be sure to check out my video at the end so you can see the case up close and personal.  Marware also hooked us up with some extra goodies that we’ll be giving away here in this review as well.

Inside the packaging you’ll find the case frame, two backplates (one clip and one plain), the arm band, a clear, front screen shield and a set of instructions.

Here’s what Marware has to say about the SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case.

“The SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 armband holster case gives you four iPhone 5 case functions in one, transforming for work, the gym, Facetime and a night on the town.

The SportShell Convertible’s interchangeable back pieces let you enjoy versatile features: an iPhone armband for running; an iPhone 5 stand for hands-free viewing; a 360° iPhone holster case; and a thin back shell for sleek, stylish protection. The Marware SportShell Convertible transforms to keep up with the demands of your active lifestyle. It’s more than a case.”

  • Interchangeable design – 4 iPhone 5 case functions in 1
  • New soft rubber inner lining provides shock-absorption and button protection
  • Clip locks in place to stand the iPhone at landscape or portrait viewing angles
  • Comfortable iPhone armband prevents perspiration from damaging iPhone and includes slot for a key
  • Belt clip rotates 360° for added convenience
  • Flat thin shell for lightweight protection against scuffs and scratches
  • Raised edges protect screen when lying face down

The Marware SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case is available in two colors.  You can choose from Black or White.

The beauty in the SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case is it’s ability to act like a chameleon and change.  For starters you can rock the case as, well a plain case.  This is done using the solid backplate.

The case has a matte exterior, the inside of which is lined with a shock absorbing TPU.  It reminds me of a traditional slider style case with better buttons.

About those buttons…  Rubberized buttons replace those built into the phone (the sleep/awake and the volume up and down), and give off a decent amount of tactile feedback when pressed.

The cutout on the back for the rear facing camera, LED flash and secondary microphone is more than ample and I experienced no flashback issues with shooting pictures with the LED flash firing.

Time for a quick change?  Remove the plain, flat backplate and swap it for the belt clip version.  This backplate is also lined with the same heavy duty TPU material that the flat one has.

The belt clip backplate allows you to easily clip your phone onto your belt or inside your gear bag.

The 360 degree rotating clip can also be used as a stand to prop up your iPhone 5 for better viewing angles.

Finally, the included arm band can be used along with the belt clip backplate to secure your phone during workouts.  It has a handy pocket for storing a key in as well.

If you use your iPhone in a multitude of situations a functional case like the SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case can be a real lifesaver.  Sure you could go out and buy a holster case and a case with a kickstand and another with an armband.  All individually these would easily add up to well over $100.  And seriously?  Are you going to actually carry around three different cases with you all the time?  I didn’t think so.  The modular nature of the SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case make it the perfect choice for those individuals looking to get a little more out of their phones.

Now for the best part, the giveaway!  Marware was kind enough to send along four items for us to giveaway to four lucky Run Around Tech readers.  We’ll be giving away the SportShell Convertible iPhone 5 Case as seen in this review, along with the Axis Case for iPad Mini, CEO Hybrid Case for iPad and the Stash iPhone 5 Wallet Case.
