Review: X-Doria Dash Icon for Samsung Galaxy S4

DSC_0007

I’ve reviewed several variations of X-Doria’s Dash Icon Case.  I checked out the 13″ MacBook Air version here and the iPhone 5 version here.  The company has made their widely popular fabric coated snap on available for what is arguably the world’s most popular smartphone right now, the Samsung Galaxy S4.  If you’re into style and have been looking for a fun and fashionable way to safeguard your new S4, look no further.

Read on through for my full review.

Inside the packaging you’ll find just the case.  No other extras come along with it.

Here’s what X-Doria has to say about the Dash Icon for Samsung Galaxy S4.

Our Dash Icon line of cases feature textured fabrics and vibrant colors. Subtle “puff prints” create a slightly raised surface and inject tactile interest. The hard polycarbonate inner shell is designed to give Dash Icon a precise fit for Galaxy S4. With full back and side protection, your Galaxy is well protected from scratches and impacts.

  • Unique, textured fabric mated to a hard polycarbonate inner shell
  • Rich, vibrant colors and raised, 3D prints
  • Multiple layers of protection with a very slim-fit

The Dash Icon for Samsung Galaxy S4 comes in four different styles.  You can choose from Navy Dots, Tribal Red (this is what I was sent for review,) Blue Herringbone or Birds.

The exterior of the case features a fabric material.  This is not only meant to add a certain style or design element but also a good amount of grip so that you never lose hold of your phone.

The inside of the case has a soft, almost matte feel to it.  This will protect the back of your S4 and insure the case doesn’t cause any sort of damage to the back of the phone.

This is a “snap-on-the-back” style case.  To install it on your S4 simply insert the phone into the case, with the volume buttons side first, and then click the opposite in.  It’s a tight fit, which is good.  This means the S4 won’t pop out when you don’t want it to.

Once inside the case you’ll still have access to all of the S4′s ports and controls. The top and the bottom of the case are completely exposed, as is usually the case with snap on the back style cases. There’s a long cutout along the left side of the case for the volume rocker as well.
On the back of the case you’ll find additional cutouts for the S4′s speaker and rear facing camera.

The Dash Icon case does not offer up any lay-on-the-table protection.  If you’re concerned about scratches to your S4 screen be sure to use a screen protector along with this case.
