If you’re a fan of the Apple Smart Cover for your 3rd or 4th generation iPad and have been looking for some sort of way to protect the back of your device as well look no further.  The ONGUARD Shell for the 3rd and 4th generation iPad is a snap on the back style shell with a twist.  A foldable, origami style design allows you to prop up your iPad in two different positions for typing and or viewing.  The Shell is available in three colors too.

The Shell for 3rd & 4th Generation iPads is available in three different colors, Red, White or Yellow.

The outside of the Shell case features a soft touch material which offers good grip.  A leatherette insert is accented by white stitching.  It’s this insert which allows you to stand your iPad up (more on that later.)

The entire inside of the case is also line with soft touch material which will protect the back of your iPad from scratching while it’s inside the case.

To place your iPad into the case simply lay it in, button side first, and then click the opposite side in to lock it in place.

Once it’s on your iPad the Shell case yields access to all of the ports and controls.  You’ll find two cutouts on the bottom, one for the speaker and another for the dock connector.  A large cutout on the side allows for access to the mute/orientation switch and the volume buttons.  Three notches across the top of the case allow you to get to the sleep/awake button, microphone and headset jack.

The Shell case has a large slit along the side so that you can choose to attach the Apple Smart Cover, should you so desire.

By lifting out the insert on the back of the case and forming it into a wedge you can then stand up your iPad into several upright angles.
