Review & Giveaway: Skech Kameo Case for iPhone 5

DSC_0016

How does two cases for the price of one sound? That’s just what the Skech Kameo case for the iPhone 5 offers you. Well not exactly. The Kameo is a protective case that comes with two interchangeable back plates. This allows you to swap out the look of your case at a moments notice.  However, that’s not all the Kameo is about.  Most heavy duty, protective cases for the iPhone look like they’re are just that  – heavy duty.  The Kameo manages to be protective yet stylish at the same time, something not found in many cases of this type.

Want to see what the Kameo case is all about?

Read on for my full review.

Inside the packaging of the Kameo you’ll find the case, the extra back plate a single, clear front screen shield, a microfiber cloth and a squeegee.

Here’s what Skech says about the Kameo.

KAMEO
for iPhone 5

Features:
• Full body protection
• Raised shock absorbent rim
• Three material combination
• Removable back panel for customization
• Full access to all ports & controls

There are heroes and then there are superheroes. KAMEO is one of our newer cases and it’s been getting amazing reviews around the globe. It’s a case that offers the ultimate in heavy-duty protection by combining three materials that have never been seen together before. Often heavy-duty cases are less then visually appealing. Not the KAMEO, it’s a fantastic looking case and it even has an extra feature – the removable back piece. KAMEO gives you the ability to simply change the design and look of your case at a whim. We’ve even included an extra back panel inside to get you started.

There are 6 different versions of the Kameo case.  There’s Black, Blue, Desert & Forest Camouflage, Pink and Purple.

The Kameo case is made from three different materials.  A TPU bumper, fabric insert and soft cloth lining.

The inside of the case (the underside of the backplate) is incredibly soft.  It reminds me of a fancy chamois cloth.  I had no concerns over the back of my iPhone 5 going into the Kameo.

To install the case on your iPhone 5 simply pop your phone with the top first.  Then proceed to push the bottom portion of your phone into the case.  The case offers a ton of lay-on-the-table protection.  If you place your phone screen side down onto a flat surface the lip of the case will hit first and keep your screen safe.

Once installed on your iPhone 5 the Kameo case yields full access to all of the phone’s ports and controls.  You’ll find three different cutouts along the bottom for access to the lightning port, speaker and microphone.  The volume buttons get covered by the TPU portion of the case but still offer great feedback when pressed.  The cutout for the mute switch is large enough that finding the switch isn’t difficult.  The sleep/awake button also gets covered like the volume buttons but still gives a decent amount of feedback when pressed as well.

On the back of the case a large cutout allows nothing to get in the way of the iPhone’s rear facing camera, secondary microphone and LED flash.

When the mood strikes you and you feel like changing the Kameo up simply pop out the back plate and swap it with the second one which comes included with the case.
