Review: Cygnett Lavish Earth Case for the iPad

DSC_0019

Plain, black, leather iPad cases are so 2012.  While they serve their purpose for some you probably want a case that looks different than what half the population is using.  The Cygnett Lavish Earth Case for the iPad is a stylish, protective case which offers three different viewing angles.  The front cover of the case has hidden magnets which keep it closed tight when you’re not using your iPad and it works with the automatic sleep/awake feature.  Available in 3 colors the Lavish could be the iPad case for you if you’re looking to separate yourself from the crowd.  Is it?  You’ll have to read on to find out.

Inside the packaging you’ll find just the case.  No extras come along with it.

Here’s what Cygnett has to say about the Lavish Earth Case for the iPad.

Offering stylish all-over protection for the new iPad, Lavish converts from a travel-friendly folio case to reveal three viewing angles. Opening or closing the case automatically activates the sleep/wake function. Concealed magnets keep the case securely closed when the new iPad is not in use.

In addition to the Sandstone color I was sent for review, the Lavish is also available in Purple or Black.

The exterior of the Lavish case is made from an eco-friendly material which resembles leather.  It’s soft and nicely padded.  You can tell right away that it’s going to do a good job of protecting the iPad.  There’s nice two-tone contrast between the tan color of the majority of the case and the black Cygnett logo near the rim.

The interior of the case has been lined with soft, suede microfiber material.  It’s lighter in color than the cover and offers further contrast.  A sleeve like cradle system sits ready to accept your iPad.

Simply slide the iPad in from the left side and fasten the Velcro clasp behind to secure it in place.  The front flap of the case contains strong magnets which help to keep the case closed when you’re not using the iPad.  This reduces unwanted activation of the iPad’s sleep/awake feature.

Once the case is on your iPad it does yield full access to all of the iPad’s ports and controls.  Along the bottom you’ll find individual cutouts for the lightning port and speaker.  On the side one large cutout for the volume rocker and mute/orientation switch.  At the top more individual cutouts for the sleep/awake button, microphone and headset jack.

The back of the case features and extra large oblong cutout for the iPad’s rear facing camera.

The Lavish case offers the ability to stand up your iPad into three different angles thanks to three straps sewn into the inside of the case’s front flap.  Each of these upright angles is best using for “watching” your iPad.

You can also flip the cover completely around for a somewhat better typing angle.  The Lavish does work with the iPad’s automatic sleep/awake feature so that when you open the front flap the iPad wakes up and when you close the front flap the iPad goes to sleep.
