Review: id America Cushi Plus for iPhone 5

We previously reviewed id America’s Cushi line of foam skins for the iPhone.  If you missed that review you can check it out here.  It was therefore with great interest that we came upon the company’s brand new Cushi Plus product while at CES this year.  The Cushi Plus builds upon the original Cushi product by adding into the mix a Cushi Band (bumper style case) for a full 360 seamless look.

Inside the packaging you’ll find the bumper case along with back skin, front skin, home button protectors, a front screen protector, squeegee, and microfiber cloth.

Here’s what id America has to say about the Cushi Plus.

There are actually 10 different styles of the new Cushi Plus product.  You can choose from the Sport, Camera, Robotics, Original, Flag, Graffiti, Dot, Camo, Retro or Candy.

Even each category itself has several color or style options within it.  The Camo version I’m reviewing here is offered in four color choices, black, white, green or multi.  Needless to say there are a ton of choices.

To start using the Cushi Plus you’ll first want to install the skin on to your iPhone 5.  The product is very flexible and easy to work with.

Simply remove the large back skin from its backing (save the backing so that you can place the skin back on to it should you ever decide to remove it) and then place it on to the back of your iPhone 5 taking care to make sure that you line up the cutout for the camera properly as well as the sides.

Then procede to repeat the process with the two front pieces.

Finally you can add a home button skin to complete the look.

Once you’ve finished installing the skins you can place the bumper style case, id America calls this the Cushi Band, around your phone, like you would any bumper style case.

What you’re left with is a seamless look that actually gives off more of a case look than that of a skin.

You’ll still have access to all of the iPhone 5’s ports and controls.

I was a fan of id America’s Cushi product but did feel the need to team it up with some sort of bumper.  Now with the Cushi Plus id America has taken the worry out of the equation for me by including their new Band bumper along in the package.  Once you’ve got everything installed the finished look closely mirrors that of a full case.  With a ton of styles and colors to choose from you’re sure to be able to find a set of the Cushi Plus that appeals to you.

You can learn more about the id America Cushi Plus by visiting this page on the company’s web site.
