Colcasac is a unique company. Rarely do you encounter a company that’s dedicated to making top-notch products and cares about protecting the environment. But that’s just what Colcasac does: they are the manufacturer of exceptional sleeves for many of Apple’s products, and these sleeves are made of organic, renewable materials. They sent over the Zagora sleeve for the newly released Retina MacBook Pro (herein referred to as rMBP). Did it live up to Colcasac’s excellent standards? Hit the jump to find out.
The Zagora sleeve is made from a dark black, heavy duty organic hemp basket weave canvas exterior. This is where many of Colcasac’s products get their unique appearance. The organic canvas feels nice and is sure to protect your rMBP from any potential scratches.

The front of the sleeve features the Colcasac logo and a functional pocket that can be used to store your charger while traveling. One of my favorite things about the pocket on all of Colcasac’s sleeves is the fact that it’s just that: a pocket. There is no zipper, no velcro, or any closure whatsoever, but I can assure you that your charger won’t fall out during transportation. Colcasac machines their sleeves with such precision, that you won’t ever have to worry about it. This case holds true with the Zagora sleeve.
Also on the front of the sleeve, there is a thin piece of velcro to close the sleeve while moving it. I’m not sure about the “brand” of velcro, persay, but this particular velcro is exceptionally quiet and doesn’t attract lint balls like you see on just about every other piece of velcro. Again, this is Colcasac quality control at it’s finest.

The inside of the Zagora sleeve is lined with 100%-recycled polyester fleece lining. This is another area where Colcasac stays true to its renewable resource state of mind. What’s more is that the interior is exceptionally soft. This, again, acts as a deterrent for scratches and also provides a little bit of cushion for small drops. This is, by no means, however, a sleeve that will protect your rMBP from big drops.

I’ve always been a big fan of Colcasac for another reason, one that I’ve mentioned earlier: the fit. Most sleeves are made to be a little big for the computer they encompass, mainly because most companies shoot for a “one-size-fits-all approach”. Not with Colcasac: the Zagora sleeve is machined perfectly so that the rMBP fits snug, with no room to wiggle. This is actually a bigger deal than it may seem like because it furthers protection even more.
The Zagora sleeve for rMBP is another win from Colcasac. I’ve bought several of their products, and there’s a certain amount of quality you can expect without question. The unique look, renewable resources used, and the quality of the materials make the Colcasac, simply stated, the best computer sleeve on the market. For $40, it’s definitely worth checking out on their website.
MSRP: $40
Pros: Environmentally friendly, unique look, great fit
Cons: Not a huge amount of drop protection
