Review: Incipio DualPro Case for the iPhone 5

The Incipio DualPro is a case that packs a dual layer design reminiscent of the Silicrylic. While this case is very protective, it suffers a few drawbacks. Despite these drawbacks, the Incipio DualPro is still a good contender.

Read on for the full review.

In the packaging, you get the case itself and a stand. The stand provided that is not very durable at all, and I often noticed it was quite difficult to set up. The Incipio website claims you get a microfiber cloth and screen shield, however, when I ordered from Verizon, I did not receive the screen shield or microfiber cloth.

The Incipio DualPro has two separate pieces that you put together. There is the silicone insert, and then the protective hardshell. This is comparable with an Otterbox Commuter series case, in terms of installation, but is much less bulky. Installation is quick and easy. I found both the silicone and the hardshell to be very susceptible to oils, however the hardshell does not scratch easily. Like all silicone, the Incipio DualPro attracts dust and lint. Buttons are protected with silicone, and have excellent tactile feedback. The silicone insert also gives the DualPro a lay-on-the-table design.

On the bottom of the case, you will find the headphone jack, speaker, and lightning port cutouts. The cutouts are almost perfect. If Incipio would’ve moved the separators a little closer to the lighting port, and covered the screws instead, the remaining 4 speaker holes would show. Nevertheless, in my tests the audio & microphone quality were not impaired.

One last thing to point out is on the back of the case. On most of Incipio’s iPhone 5 cases, there is a grove running across the camera cutout. Although pointless at first glance, this area gives a resting place for your pointer finger which is a very nice touch.

Overall, the Incipio DualPro is a solid case. If you are looking for impact protection and don’t want a sticky silicone case, you get the best of both worlds with the one. Available in 6 colors, the DualPro can be found on Incipio.com, for a price of $29.99.

MSRP: $29.99

PROS: Great protection, tactile feedback, camera cutout groove.

CONS: Silicone attracts lint, Hardshell susceptible to oil, bulky.
