Paid MobileMe Users Losing Extra iCloud Storage

As a paid up member of Apple’s old MobileMe service I received, and everyone else who was subscribed to the service also received  25GB of free iCloud storage for a year.  iCloud as a free service normally only comes with 5GB.  Users must pay for more storage should they exceed it.

This morning I received an email from Apple letting me know that at the end of this month I will be losing my 25GB and be put onto the standard 5GB plan, which all iCloud users get for free.

As you can see the reason for getting an email was that my current level of storage is over 5GB, you can check yours in Settings –> iCloud –> Storage & Backup.  This means when I’m switched back to the regular 5GB plan I’ll be unable to backup my devices until I clear out some room.

My storage level was over to backups from old devices that I didn’t have anymore so clicking Manage Storage gives you a list of all of your storage at a backup and app level.

Once I’d removed the older backups I was back under the 5GB.
