Angry Birds had just started out as a simple cell phone game but since its release has grown into 4 games and lots of retail merchandise. One example of this are the Angry Birds cases made by Gear4. In this case, specifically the Angry Birds Space edition cases. They’re slim snap on covers that give your phone a unique look and sport a cool design, but is it enough to warrant that $35 price tag?
Read on to find out.
Crack open the package and inside you’ll find just the case, no extras like a screen wipe or protector. The case itself has the Angry Birds design on the back and it’s clear on the sides which helps it’s unique design. Like most slim cases, the top and bottom are fully open giving you full access to the headset jack and dock connector. On the side, there’s one large opening for the volume buttons and ringer switch and on the back, there’s a pill shaped camera opening.
Installation is as simple as putting the phone in on one side and snapping it onto the other. Once you have it on the fit is tight and its not something that will come off easily. The design on the back is really nice and will definitely make your phone stand out in the crowd. It has a high gloss finish and shines under light. Like most slim cases, it retains the form factor of the iPhone and its lightweight so you won’t even notice it there.
Where this case really lags behind is in the quality department. It simply isn’t made well. After a week’s worth of use the case started to crack and break in various places, which isn’t what you want especially for a case that’s $35. As for the design on the back? Even that’s scratching after such a short time. Compared to other slim cases out there like the Incase Snap or Incipio Feather, this one is simply a let down.
Overall, while the Angry Birds cases look nice and fit well, they lack in the quality department. A case which is supposed to protect your phone shouldn’t deteriorate within only a week. Especially one with a price tag that’s towards the higher end of the spectrum. I simply cannot recommend this case to anyone.
