Today, Facebook’s iOS app was updated, bringing major speed enhancements and a slightly different hue of blue on the app icon. Also packed into the update is the ability to swipe downward to close photos, and a quick tap to gain more recent stories instead of refreshing.
One first blush, the app is incredibly fast now. My initial tests were on WiFi, but when transferred to 3G, the refresh rate was still very speedy. The interface of the app is refined in certain aspects such as the look of the “Status | Photo | Check In” bar. The Facebook app no longer feels like I am loading an HD movie on dial-up. It actually brings the iPad app up to par with facebook.com on Safari.
Overall, you should definitely update as soon as possible. Available as a free update, of course, on iOS. Android’s Facebook app got updated today as well, but they didn’t get the major speed enhancements. Go iOS!
