CES 2012: ioSafe Rugged Portable with Thunderbolt Takes On the Steel Cage of Death

One of the highlights I look forward to each year at CES is the demo by the guys from ioSafe.  The first year I attended their demonstration they lit a hard drive on fire, dowsed it with water and then ran over it with a gigantic earth mover.  Last year they took us all to a shooting range off the strip where each attendee got the chance to blast one of their drives with a shotgun.

How do they top demos like that?  How about by shooting 1 million volts (not a typo) through one of the new Rugged Portable Drives with Thunderbolt by using a Tesla Coil to do it?

Yep, that’s exactly what they did.

Did they drive survive?  You’ll have to watch my video above to find out.
