Many consumers have opted to jailbreak their iDevice because of the freedom it gives you to customize it. Many see it as an oppoturnity to free themselves of Apple’s strict ecosystem, while others just enjoy the benefits it provides in the form of apps and tweaks. However, recently an untethered jailbreak hasn’t existed because of the inability to find an exploit in the iOS infrastructure. Well, hacker pod2g has finally delivered on something fans have been asking for for a while now: an untethered jailbreak for A4 devices on iOS 5.0.1.
It’s worth nothing that this only works on devices with an A4 processor (and lower) This means that current iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners will be left out this go around. However, p0sixninja, a member of the ChronicDev team aassures users that they are working around the clock to ensure a release as quick as possible for these devices. If you currently have a tethered jailbroken device, all you need to do is simply install the newly released Corona to received the untether in Cydia. However, if your A4 device isn’t currently jailbroken, it can be achieved by using the most recent release of redsn0w (0.9.10).
Do you opt to jailbreak your device, or do you feel it’s more of a novelty and not neccessary in Apple’s ecosystem? Let us know in the comments below!
