I’ve always been a big fan of sustaining Earth’s resources. It’s always been my view that if you have the ability to conserve and use organic materials, you should. Obviously, I also have a (quite large) soft spot for anything tech. What happens when you combine the best of both worlds? You get a company named Colcasac. Colcasac is a company based in Salt Lake City, Utah, that manufactures slip cases for everything Apple. Due to a recent promotion by the company, I received a free (PR is absolutely great here) iPhone 4 Cusco case. What did I think of it? Read on after the break.
I’ve noted before that I don’t like to use cases for my Apple products; I do it out of necessity of protecting my $500+ investment. The ergonomics and design beauty of Apple products is unparalleled, and hindering such beauty with a case seems wrong. Enter the Cusco case. The case is simply a slip cover made out of hand-loomed cotton grown in Oaxaca, Mexico. The resulting product is a beautifully designed and organic solution for storing your iPhone during commutes.
Of course, there is only an opening at the top of the case. That is, you don’t have access to your 30-pin dock connector and side controls. However, you can easily access the 3.5mm headphone jack, making listening to music a breeze. Since there are no case restrictions, you can use virtually any size headphone jack.
The case itself is lined with an ultra-soft cotton that ensure that your iPhone will not be scratched at all. Furthermore, Colcasac is noted for the perfect fit of their cases, and the Cusco case is no different. The iPhone 4 fits perfectly inside and doesn’t allow the phone to slip and slide around.
There isn’t much to this case, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t tons to say about it. Transporting your iPhone 4 in cars, backpacks, etc. just got a lot easier. I believe that the Cusco case fulfills the need to have a rugged case constantly on your iPhone 4, iPhone 3G/s, or iPod Touch. Sure, you can’t fit this thing into your pocket very easily, but I think it’s a small trade-off for the beautiful protection the Cusco offers. You can pick up the Cusco case on Colcasac’s website here.
MSRP: $15.00
PROS: Beautiful design, made with organic materials, great protection.
CONS: Won’t easily fit into pockets.
