Review: iBaggs Traveler 2 for iPad 2

One great things about the iPad is the portability of the device. More and more, I’m seeing people of all ages and professions carrying their device around to accomplish the numerous tasks they perform throughout the day. However, if one is to be carrying this (expensive) device around every day, both protection and a portable solution is needed. Thankfully, iBaggs.com has the case for you, the Traveler 2. Read on for my thoughts.

The Traveler 2 case itself is constructed out of nylon padded with foam. To install the iPad, simply slip the device in near the top and seal the velcro closure. The case provides a tight fit that ensures no slipping of your iPad while it’s in the case. My first gripe, however, comes with the fact that the headphone jack, sleep/wake button, and volume rocker are all covered. It’s understandable, however, as the Traveler 2 is meant to be a carrying case, not a permanent case. I would have liked to see a cutout for the 3.5mm headphone jack, at the least. There are also cutouts for the home button and front-facing camera, which is nice to see.

The back of the case is where it’s at, however. Providing great utility, the back possesses straps and pockets for numerous uses. There’s a vertical strap for use as a hand grip while using your iPad in the case. Alternatively, there is a horizontal strap that can be used to mount the iPad to various things, mainly the headrests of cars. This is great if you have kids during long road trips. Again, it’s worth noting that the headphone jack is covered so the sound will have to come via the iPad unless you open up the velcro enclosure.

iBaggs.com also includes two d-rings at the top of the case, along with a shoulder carrying strap for use when walking around. The strap is made out of nice material and offers ample comfort, but the d-rings and hooks are made of plastic and could possibly break.

Overall, the look of the case is not that appealing to me. It’s not necessarily design-flawed, I’m just a minimalist that goes with the least amount of case as possible. However, the iBaggs.com Traveler is exceptional for carrying your iPad around during walks to the office or strolls through the park. You can pick up the Traveler 2 on iBaggs.com for $54.95.

MSRP: $54.95

PROS: Great utility, ample protection

CONS: Covered ports, plastic d-rings and hooks on strap, price may be too steep for some

Hello Roger, Thank you for your outstanding review, BUT! to clarify a few of your comments and concerns. From the looks of your photos! you put your iPad into the case back wards, the camera ends goes in first and then you will see there is access to the headphone jack, sleep/wake button, and volume rocker and even the Data port. May be we need to clarify the iPad installation process better. As for the d-rings and swivel snap hooks, they are made of Military grade nylon plastic and have a breaking point of 300lbs/400psi .

    Again great review!

I certainly agree that some more detailed instructions are a good idea. When I reviewed the case on YouTube I did the same thing at first (Inserted the iPad the wrong way.) Not sure why but it just seems to naturally want to go in that way.
