Little one week old Like Adler’s parents decided to name their daughter after the FaceBook “Like” button. Let’s start off by saying this is quite the unique name for a baby. Often when naming a baby families look into the deeper meanings of the name. However, Lior and Vardit Adler looked into not only the deeper meaning but the meaning to our current generation and what is important and unique to us.
When Lior was asked about the naming of his daughter he told the German Press Agency that “To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel.” He also said Like had a nice and international ring to it, and Facebook had become the icon of today’s generation.
Like is not the only child the Lior and Vardit have. They also have two other kids that also share unique names. The children were named after the couples love for cooking. The one child’s name is Dvash (honey in Hebrew) and the others name is Pie.
When Lior told his parents and his wife’s parents about the name of his newest child he said that “They simply didn’t believe it,”.
Two good question to ask is if Like will like her name too? And would you ever name your child after a social networking feature? Perhaps maybe “Poke” or “Comment”.
